ADT Partners With LG And Nest To Make Your Smart Home More Secure 2015

ADT has entered into new partnerships with LG Electronics and Nest as part of its aim to deliver advanced home security solutions to its customers.
The company, which is a leader in terms of providing security and automation solutions designed for homes and businesses, will be introducing the new smart security product from LG into its security services. Likewise, it also plans to integrate the Nest Learning Thermostat into its own Pulse ecosystem.ADT Pulse
The "Smart Security" system from LG Electronics is an all-in-one security and home automation solution product, which is slated to launch later this year. It is a plug-and-play device that comes in a compact size, thereby offering huge flexibility in remote monitoring of home conditions while incorporating the ADT service in order to gain added protection.
Inspired by the Internet of Things, this new security device can be used as the focal point of control in future "smart homes" where seamless connection to peripheral gadgets and mobile app manipulation are also made possible.
"By collaborating with a leader like ADT, we will deliver best-in-class product innovations and services to consumers," said LG Senior VP Byung-hoon Min, who also heads the company's Convergence Audio-Video business.
The all-in-one smart security product from LG features a 5MP camera with 1080p video capture, field of view measured at 150 degrees, speakers, microphone, and night vision that can cover a distance of up to 30 feet. The product is yet to have an official name, launch date and price tag.
ADT also plans to integrate its Pulse home automation and security platform with Nest. Scheduled to launch this summer, the new integration will showcase the company's commitment to keep its ecosystem open and accommodating to future opportunities.
The Pulse platform is getting new enhancements that will allow faster application integration, development and support of third parties and their services and devices. It aims to bring a sharper focus on, and ongoing enhancements to, the Pulse user experience, whether through tablet, mobile or other Internet-connected devices.
ADT will also feature services from other partners as part of an ongoing development scheme to its security platform. These include the Life360 app, which is designed to help the user track his family members, and a web service called "If This Then That," which allows the user to easily connect physical devices and web services.
"Bringing LG and Nest into our ecosystem allows ADT to help define the future of home and business security and automation for the millions of customers who rely on our people and systems every day," said Naren Gursahaney, President, CEO and Director of the ADT Corporation.

Galaxy Note 2 Android 5.0 Lollipop Update: More Regions Confirmed 2015

More international regions have been confirmed for the release of the Android 5.0 Lollipop update to the Galaxy Note 2. Samsung Morocco and Samsung Portugal have stated the device will receive the update in their regions.
The saga of the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Galaxy Note 2 continues, as it has become clear that the device will be receiving the update in some regions, while in others, it will not.Samsung Galaxy Note 2
For months, speculation on the Internet surrounding the release of the official Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Galaxy Note 2 centered on whether or not the device would not receive an update. Many feared the age of the handset would preclude an update to Lollipop, while others expected that as one of Samsung's former flagship phablets, the device should indeed be getting an upgrade.
Several international regional arms of Samsung confirmed the Android 5.0 Lollipop update in Poland and the Nordic region of Europe. That wasn't enough evidence for some users, who noted that various international arms of the company had released erroneous information in the past.
Recently, however, it became clear that some territories would in fact be releasing the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the device while others won't. Samsung Denmark, along with one UK carrier, confirmed the update, while Samsung Gulf, which services various Middle Eastern territories, definitively announced the Note 2 would not be receiving an Android 5.0 Lollipop update in their area.
So, the bottom line for the Note 2 is that the Android 5.0 Lollipop update will be released on a case-by-case basis depending on region. Now, more regions have confirmed the release of the update for the handset in their territories. Both Samsung Portugal and Samsung Morocco recently answered inquiries as to whether the Note 2 would be receiving the update in those countries in the affirmative. The Portuguese arm of the company stated that the update is currently being finalized, while the Moroccan arm gave no time frame for its release.

Here's The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Iron Man Edition Official Teaser 2015

Galaxy S6 Edge Iron Man Edition
Samsung has begun pumping up the excitement for its upcoming Galaxy S6 Edge Iron Man Edition with the first official teaser for the new smartphone.
The South Korean smartphone maker teased on Twitter the first image of the Galaxy S6 Edge Iron Man Edition, but we don't actually catch a glimpse of the smartphone. Instead, Samsung has decided to keep things mysterious with a dark red box emblazoned with the golden face of Iron Man. The box is open just ever so slightly to give us a peek of the bright yellow light from within.
On the lower left side of the box, it says "Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge." On the other side is "Avengers: In Cinemas Now." Above the box are the words "Coming Soon," which should mean those who are psyched to pick up one of these limited edition smartphones shouldn't have to wait too long.
Samsung also says "detailed availability in markets may differ by region," a possible hint at an international release, an uncommon thing for Samsung to do for its special edition smartphones, which are often limited to Asian markets.
Earlier this month, Samsung officials made public the company's plans for an Iron Man Edition of the Galaxy S6 Edge to Korea Times. Lee Young-hee, head of marketing at Samsung's mobile division, did not offer details but said that the new smartphone could be available by the end of this month.
"The color of the new Iron Man phones will be red," she said. "We will decide on other details soon after discussions with Marvel Studio. It will be released either at the end of May or early June."Iron Man
An image of a mock-up, showing the red smartphone trimmed with a gold frame, has started making rounds on the Internet. However, Samsung has yet to show the final image of the handset and the gold trim is still unconfirmed. The phone will also likely feature Iron Man themed wallpapers, themes, icons and ringtones as part of a wider partnership Samsung has struck with Marvel Entertainment, the studio behind the Avengers, of which Iron Man is a prominent member.
Samsung and Marvel have teamed up to promote Avengers: Age of Ultron, part of which was shot in Seoul, resulting in Samsung product placements in the movie. Samsung believes getting its products seen in popular content can help raise future awareness of its devices, allowing the major mobile player to get a bigger piece of the industry.

Panasonic Outs World's First Firefox Smart TV 2015

Mozilla, the corporation known for its Firefox Web browser, has struggled to make a dent in the smartphone industry with its Firefox OS, so it has decided to take the operating system to bigger screens instead.
On Thursday, Mozilla announced in a blog post that its partnership with Panasonic is finally yielding fruit in the form of half a dozen new smart TVs that will run on Firefox OS. These 4K smart TVs, which were introduced to the world via the Consumer Electronics Show earlier this year, including Panasonic's curved 65-inch 4K TV, will feature a more "user-friendly and customizable" user interface, says Panasonic's director of its TV business Masahiro Shinada.
Neither Mozilla nor Panasonic announced pricing for the six new smart TV models, but a quick search around the Web by The Verge has turned out the 40-inch CX680 model selling for £656.87 or around $1,033, and the 50-inch Viera CX700 selling for £999, or $1,571. Prices for the CR850, CR730, CX800 and the CX750 have yet to be announced.
Mozilla launched its operating system in 2013 with the intent of putting it in smartphones in an effort to break down the closed systems of iOS and Android. However, only a handful of devices, mostly low-end smartphones from Huawei, ZTE and Alcatel run on Firefox OS. Research firm Gartner says out of the 1.2 billion smartphones shipped last year, only two million units running on Mozilla's platform were sold.Firefox
However, Mozilla believes that Firefox OS' support for HTML5, Javascript and other open Web platforms can help attract developers to build apps for the platform, as it allows them to easily port their apps over to other operating systems, thus attracting more users with more services.
"With Firefox and Firefox OS powered devices, users can enjoy a custom and connected Web experience and take their favorite content (apps, videos, photos, websites) across devices without being locked into one proprietary ecosystem or brand," says Mozilla chief technical officer Andreas Gal.
The Firefox OS for TV is colorful, flat and easy to navigate. Users can download their favorite apps from the Firefox OS app marketplace, while plenty of video-on-demand services, including Netflix,AMAZON INSTANT VIDEO and YouTube, already come pre-installed. From there, users can pin their favorite apps and channels to the bottom of the home screen for fast access, while apps and, eventually, smart home devices, will pop up notifications on the lower right. The TVs will also come pre-loaded with the Firefox browser, so users can sit in front of their TVs for some big-screen Web surfing.

Android Wear 5.1.1 Rolls Out To Asus ZenWatch: New Features And How To Get Update 2015

Android Wear 5.1.1 Rolls Out To Asus ZenWatch: New Features And How To Get Update

The Asus ZenWatch is set to give the LG Watch Urbane some company as the wearable is now also getting the much-awaited Android Wear 5.1.1 update.
Earlier in April, Google said that in the course of the next couple of weeks the update would be making its way to all seven Android Wear smartwatches.
The LG watch Urbane would be the first to benefit, followed by the others. True to its promise, the Asus ZenWatch has now startedreceiving the software update.
Eagle-eyed redditors were the first to give word that the Asus ZenWatch was receiving the Android Wear 5.1.1 software update. Reddit user Verdes8991 alerted the community that he had received the software upgrade, which bumped his smartwatch from Android Wear 5.0.2 to Android Wear 5.1.1
He also posted an image of the updated Asus ZenWatch to validate his claims.

"Just looked down and it was updating itself. Didn't even expect it but hey. Sorry for the potato pic. At work,"wrote Verdes8891.
The software update has the build number LDZ21T and brings a slew of improvements and new features, such as Wi-Fi connectivity (for compatible devices), font size options, wrist gesture, always-on apps, new menu, and usable lock screen, among other unique features.
Users wil now be able to scroll through alerts timeline by simply flicking their wrist thanks to the wrist gesture feature. Instead of belting out commands if you're unable to talk, you can draw emojis that can be sent via text.
Ironically, the ZenWatch will not support Wi-Fi connectivity post the update as it is not compatible—no Wi-Fi radio.
Here's how to get the Android 5.1.1 update for your Asus ZenWatch by manually checking for the upgrade:
1. Swipe down on the watch face. Next swipe to settings.
2. Navigate to Go > About. Check System Updates.
Alternatively, the option to flash the file manually also exists and you can do so by downloading the OTA file.
Once your update to Android Wear 5.1.1 is through your smartwatch should show Google Play Services version 7.3.36 and Android Wear version 1.1.1.1910765.
For those wary of flashing manually—wait until the update hits your device

Viber for WINDOWS 10 unveiled at Microsoft's build event NEWS SOFTWARE

Viber has unveiled a new version of its app today at Microsoft Build in San Francisco. Viber's new design is fully optimized for Windows 10's responsive OS, creating a well-integrated product that blends seamlessly into the user experience of Windows 10, it said in a press statement.

During the keynote presentation, a demonstration showed how Cortana voice commands could be used to send Viber messages and to start chatting with contacts quickly. Attendees will also be shown deep integration of Viber contact card data within the platform, allowing users to send messages and make voice and video calls via Viber more easily, the press release said.

The app will work smoothly across PC, tablet and mobile, resizing and adapting the on-screen content to optimize the experience even as the window size changes. Integration with Live Tiles enables users topin Viber, or a specific chat, to the start menu allowing them to see notifications from Viber even before opening the app, and through actionable notifications Viber users can respond to a message immediately without exiting their current task.

"We're really excited about Windows 10 and the opportunities it offers to developers," said Michael Shmilov, Viber's COO. "The Universal Windows Platform has allowed us to create a unique version of Viber that lets users switch to the device that suits them at any given moment and stay in complete sync, without compromising their experience. Beyond that, the integration with Live Tiles and Cortana, plus the social extensibility that Windows 10 offers will enhance the way people communicate with Viber. We will keep working closely with Microsoft in order to ensure the best possible experience for Viber users on Windows 10."

"As one of the first chat apps to embrace Windows 10, Viber has taken advantage of new OS features to enhance a user's communications experience on any Windows device ," said Steven Guggenheimer, Corporate Vice President and Chief Evangelist at Microsoft. "Today's demos have highlighted how our investments in the Universal Windows Platform empower partners to deliver innovation and choice to their users, through the breadth of all Windows 10 devices."

Viber for Windows 10 will be available later this year.

AutoCAD 2016 launched NEW SOFTWARE

Autodesk Inc has launched AutoCAD 2016, the latest release of one of the world's leading computer-aided design (CAD) applications.

The 2016 release includes scores of new features that accelerate the 2D and 3D design, documentation and collaboration process while enriching the on-screen experience of creating almost any shape imaginable, Autodesk said in a press statement.

In addition, users can confidently share their work with others using TrustedDWG technology, the original and most accurate way to store and exchange design data, the statement said.

"AutoCAD 2016 makes detailing and documentation work faster, while stunning visual enhancements bring a new level of clarity and depth to every aspect of a design," said Amy Bunszel, vice president of AutoCAD products, Autodesk.

"Our customers will also appreciate productivity boosts like enhanced PDF output and tighter coordination with Building Information Modeling (BIM)."

"The enhancements brought this product to another level," said senior architect, Dr Santi Maggio Savasta, M.Arch, PhD, with Santi Maggio Savasta Architect.

"The improvements brought to dimensioning and text editing, not to mention the whole section related to the drawing aids, allow you to be more effective and quick, giving you a real-time preview of what you are doing, while you are doing it."

Improvements to the drawing canvas in AutoCAD 2016 dramatically improve the visual accuracy seen on screen. Enhanced readability and detail means smooth curves and arcs replace jagged line segments. AutoCAD now takes full advantage of the latest graphics hardware to deliver a richer, yet faster, visual experience. Users can predict more results and minimise the need to "undo" a command with expanded Command Preview.

Autodesk says other enhancements include:

- AutoCAD 2016 also outputs enhanced PDFs that are significantly smaller, while retaining visual fidelity. PDFs are now fully searchable, maintain all hyperlinks and can be attached to drawings faster.

- Improved Smart Dimensioning automatically creates appropriate measurements based on the type of objects selected, making it easier to accurately calculate measurements based on the drawing context.

Together with new features for reality computing and BIM coordination, the tools in AutoCAD 2016help users significantly increase efficiency and maximize productivity—clearing the way to faster, more precise design and documentation.

Scholarships open a new world for eager young Myanmar students news 2015

CARRYING HEAVY equipment and wilting under the burning sun in Kamphaeng Phet, eight young vocational students from Myanmar still maintained their high spirits.

  • To them, winning scholarships from the PTT Group that entails weeks of on-the-job training in Thailand is a great opportunity that could change their lives.

"It's difficult at times. In a workplace, you are alone from others," said Aung Pyae Phyoe, one of the eight students assigned for training at S1 oilfield, one of the onshore oilfields of PTT Exploration and Production (PTTEP) projects.

He is one of the first 40 students selected for the Myanmar High Vocational Diploma Scholarship, a programme initiated by PTTEP and other companies in PTT Group. It is part of the corporate social responsibility efforts of PTTEP, which has been operating in Myanmar for 25 years and is committed to improving the country in the areas of health, education and community development.

  • According to Waranon Laprabang, PTTEP senior vice president for Myanmar Asset, International Asset Group, the company has worked closely with Myanmar's Energy Planning Department (EPD) in selecting the students. The department coordinates with relevant authorities and Myanmar, as well as making public announcements, to identify the candidates. The candidates are then required to take an exam and interview by teachers at IRPC Technological College (IRPCT), located in Rayong. The students needed to pass a medical check-up as well as speak basic English, as the courses are conducted in English.

Launched in 2013, the scholarship project enrolled 40 Grade 10 students for the 2-year Accelerated Vocational Diploma, focusing on machine tools and maintenance. After training at PTT business units for eight weeks, they will attend the college for a year and a half more, to earn the High Vocational Diploma in production technology. For completion, they will attend 6-month training at PTT business units.

In a teleconference from Kamphaeng Phet last week, excitement and enthusiasm resonated in the voice of Aung Pyae Phyoe, better known to the senior workers in the field as Phyoe. Together with his friend, Hlyan Phone Aung from Mawlamyine, Phyoe - whose home is in Yangon - admitted there were some cultural challenges, aside from the language barrier.

"Our instructors explained the job in Thai and that was translated. We tried to understand. I study Thai language. Now, I know about 200-300 words," said Phyoe.

Yet, there is no problem when it comes to food and weather. They acknowledged that Thai food tended to be more spicy and tasted differently to food from their home.

"My favourite food is phad Thai," Phyoe said.

  • About to return home briefly before they start the High Vocational Diploma programme, he is happy with the eight-week training. Asked what he expects at the next training, he said "offshore training".

"I want to be on the sea," he said, adding that the PTTEP oil-rig in Myanmar is a dream destination.

Working hard to get the scholarship, he is now excelling at his studies as he expects to be recruited by PTTEP.

"I can work either here or in Myanmar. I will try to get a job," he said.

"This scholarship changed my life. I will try for the best," he added.

  • According to Waranon, this scholarship is unconditional, meaning the students do not need to work for PTTGroup.

"But, it is a good opportunity for PTTEP to find potential manpower," he said.

To the executives, the scholarship well serves the company's mission to operate globally to provide reliable energy supplies and sustainable value to all stakeholders.

"Myanmar is the first international venture of PTTEP. During the 25 years as a long-term partner, PTTEP conducts business with conscience and has a responsibility in order to create sustainable economic, social and environmental development for Myanmar. This education opportunity is expected to help create skilled manpower for the country's development," he said.

  • In 2014, 30 Myanmar students won scholarships and joined three more from Cambodia. According to the company, pleased with the response of the programme, PTT Group aims to extend the scholarship to cover other Asean countries, under the project called "AEC Myanmar Scholarship".
